Size:  The Cut Away Embroidery Stabilizer Backing is medium weight (80g/㎡), pre-cut into 23 x 23 cm (9 in x 9 in) sheets, 100 per pack. It is one of the best choices for most embroiderers, especially for projects requiring permanent support.

Easy to Use: Cut away stabilizers provide durable support for embroidery designs. After stitching, excess backing is trimmed with scissors, helping your embroidery maintain shape and stability through repeated washing.

Application: Suitable for a wide range of fabrics including knitwear, T-shirts, sweatshirts, baby clothes, and other materials where extra support is needed. Ideal for dense and high-stitch-count embroidery designs.

Material: Made from 100% premium non-woven material, acid and lead free. Skin-friendly and safe to use even on garments in direct contact with skin.

Packaging: Pre-cut design allows easy use and storage, ideal for both home use and professional embroidery projects.

Your Questions, Answered

What is cut-away stabilizer used for?
Cut-away stabilizer provides lasting support for embroidery, helping reduce puckering, stretching, and design distortion. It is especially useful for soft, stretchy, or unstable fabrics.
What fabrics work best with 2.5oz cut-away stabilizer?
It works especially well with T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, knits, and other soft or stretchy fabrics that need extra stability during embroidery.
Why choose 2.5oz medium-weight cut-away?
2.5oz offers a practical balance of support and flexibility, providing enough stability for everyday embroidery without adding unnecessary bulk or stiffness.
What is the difference between cut-away and tear-away stabilizer?
Cut-away stays behind the embroidery after stitching to provide lasting support, while tear-away is designed to be removed after embroidery. For stretchy fabrics and designs that need continued stability, cut-away is usually the better choice.
Should I choose pre-cut sheets or a roll?
Choose pre-cut sheets for quick, convenient setup with no measuring or cutting. Choose a roll if you want more flexibility for different hoop sizes, larger designs, or frequent embroidery projects.
How much stabilizer should I trim away after embroidery?
Trim the excess stabilizer around the design, leaving a small amount around the stitched area so the embroidery keeps the support it needs. Avoid cutting too close to the stitches.
Does cut-away stabilizer stay in the garment after washing?
Yes. Cut-away is designed to remain behind the embroidery after stitching and washing, helping the design maintain its shape over time.
Can cut-away stabilizer be used with different embroidery machines?
Yes. It can be used with most home and multi-needle embroidery machines. Simply choose a sheet or cut the roll to fit your hoop and project.

Soft but still supportive

I like that this stabilizer gives enough support without making the back of the shirt feel too stiff.

Results on Thin Polyester Polos

I am extremely impressed with this stabilizer! I used just one layer on 20 thin polyester polos with embroidered sports logos, and every one stitched beautifully—not one pucker. For comparison (see photo), I stitched another polo using my previous method of crisscrossing two layers of mesh stabilizer. That polo had the minor puckering I had grown accustomed to seeing. The difference was immediately noticeable—this stabilizer produced a 100% improvement while using only one layer. I will definitely continue using it for polyester polos!

No pucker

I'm speechless. This is an old t-shirt very very thin, knit and stretchy. Unbelievable. No puckered, zero. Wow. Definitely go and buy it, it's well worth it

Doesn’t show through thin fabric.

I used this on a very thin bella and canvas tank top for myself with a thick stitch and ai was floored. I used one layer, no puckering and you can’t see it.Wish is came in larger sizes to fit bigger hoops tho.

Better than the thin backing I used before

My old stabilizer didn’t give enough support on stretchy fabric. This one keeps the design much more stable.

Very convenient

The pre-cut format is great. I wish there were even more size options, but the stabilizer itself works well.

Good for most of my projects

Works really well for T-shirts and sweatshirts. I would probably use something heavier for very dense designs.

Good stablizer

This embroidery stabilizer works great! It provides good support while stitching and helps keep the fabric from shifting or puckering. It’s easy to cut and works well for a variety of embroidery projects. The backing feels sturdy without being overly stiff, and my designs have stitched out nicely using it. Great value and definitely something I’ll keep on hand for future embroidery projects!
